Experience and Particular Interests
As well as being a qualified counsellor, I am also a mum of two children, each with their own special educational needs and disabilities and I have 20 years of experience working as a primary teacher. This life experience brings an understanding and insight into what it is like to be a parent carer juggling work and family life.
As such, I have a particular interest in working with adults who might be struggling with issues related to being carers.
I also have significant experience of working with people dealing with cancer diagnosis and bereavement.
Will my sessions be confidential?
The information you share in the counselling session is confidential. What is said in the space stays in the space. However, there are some issues I am required by law to share. These are explained in the counselling agreement that we would discuss in our first phone call. I am also required by law and as a member of the BACP to attend monthly Supervision to discuss my practice with my supervisor. This is to ensure that my practice is ethical, legal and that your best interests are my priority. My supervisor is also bound by the same confidentiality laws and will not discuss you with anyone else.
How will my information be used? Click here to see my Privacy Policy.
Currently, I offer sessions on a Tuesday between 9am and 3.30pm. I may be able to offer other times depending on availability.
Sessions would be conducted on a weekly basis, at the same time each week. However, I understand that for some, this is not possible so I will aim to be flexible regarding frequency.
I offer clients an introductory 15 minute phone call to chat with you about what you are looking for and what you need support with and arrange the first session.
I offer an initial six to eight 50-minute sessions. At the end of which, we will review progress, and you can decide if you wish to continue. Some people feel this is enough to reach their goals and others take a more long-term view and request more.
So, If you would like to explore whether I can help you, please contact me using the buttons below and I will be happy to arrange a chat with you to answer your questions.

• Free introductory phone call to discuss what you are looking for and arrange an initial session.
• Each 50 min session online is £55.00
• Each 50 min session face to face is £60.00 (to cover cost of room hire)

Person centred counselling, also known as client-centred, is an approach based on the belief that individuals possess an innate capacity for personal growth when provided with the right environment. In person centred counselling the therapist creates a supportive, empathetic and non-judgmental space allowing clients to explore their thoughts and feelings openly. By developing a relationship based on mutual trust, clients feel understood and valued.
However, some clients may want to be more creative e.g. creative journalling or want more ideas and suggestions on how to move forward e.g. CBT strategies (while I am not a CBT therapist, I am qualified to use some CBT techniques.) In this case I am open to working collaboratively with you to explore your thoughts and ideas of what you might need or how you might wish to move forward.
